Pansies are a bright addition to any container.<\/p><\/div>\n

Pansies are a classic springtime flower. They are perfect for containers as the weather starts to warm up and the days get just a little longer. They add a splash of color while withstanding a few cold spells. Get them out early because they will wither as soon as summer temperatures hit.<\/p>\n

While pansies are an old spring time standard, here a four fresh new ideas for displaying pansies that are anything but common:<\/p>\n

1) Clementine box container<\/h2>\n

Crates make fun and attractive containers. Unfortunately, they are sometimes hard to come by, so how about re-using old clementine crates<\/a>? They are perfect because they are found easily at any supermarket when clementines are in season. They are also the perfect petite size for pansies. If they are slated, line the bottom of the boxes with a piece of permeable landscaping cloth. Then fill it with potting soil and plant your pansies. If there are no slats, you may need to drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage. \u00a0Place a tray underneath the crates to protect any vulnerable surfaces from excess water.<\/p>\n

\"pansy<\/a>2) Tipsy Pots<\/h2>\n

These are a fun and easy to make garden decoration that are perfect for planting whimsical pansies. Empress of Dirt instructs that all you need to do is hammer a pipe a few inches into the ground. Choose pots that have drainage holes large enough to fit on the pipe. Thread a pot over the pipe and fill it with dirt and flowers as you go. You can use dirt and stones to nestle and secure each pot in its desired position. Ceramic pots work great, but you can use anything that you can drill a hole into the the bottom. Try watering cans or old tea kettles.<\/p>\n

3) Watering Can or Metal Bucket<\/h2>\n

As mentioned before old metal watering cans will make lovely and unique containers<\/a> for little pansies. Just make sure you drill a hole in the bottom of the can for drainage. Vintage buckets found at antique stores or flea markets will also work well.<\/p>\n

4) Egg Pot Pansies<\/h2>\n

Planning an event and need a creative spring-themed tablescape? Try these egg pot pansies <\/a>shared by Stone Gable for some great centerpieces. Break away the top third of an eggshell, removing the yolk and whites. Wash the inside of the eggshell well and allow it to dry. Then put a small amount of potting soil and a little pansy seedling in the shell. Use them at place settings, set them up as centerpieces in hurricane glass or place them on a tray held up by decorative rocks. They will last up to five days indoors. When you are done with the seedlings inside, break away the bottom portion of the shell, plant them in an outdoor container<\/a>, and place them outside. The pansies will continue to grow and thrive.<\/p>\n
