How the Lechuza Self-Watering System works
With the addition of the optional sub-irrigation system, it has never been easier to maintain your plants and flowers. This intelligent system includes a "separator" that forms a reservoir when placed in the bottom of the plant liner. Use the included Lechuza PON over the separator to create a layer that will regulate the amount of water your plant consumes. Cover the PON with high quality potting soil, insert your plantling, and finish filling your container with soil.
You will find a supply shaft with a water level indicator on the inner corner of the planter. This feature allows water and liquid fertilizer to be easily added in one quick step. Use the supply shaft to fill the water reservoir until the indicator reads "max". For plants that require little water, you may want to fill the reservoir halfway. Water your plant or flower from the top as you normally would over the next twelve weeks. The plant will begin to soak up water from the reservoir once its roots have grown deep enough. At this time, your plant will be ready to nourish itself for up to twelve weeks without additional watering.
