Interiorscaping Helps Create Welcoming Environment at Central Illinois Car Dealership

Many consumers find car dealerships to be a stressful environment, whether they’re shopping or waiting on repairs. The open space with glass walls and polished tile or concrete floors works well for displaying cars, but isn’t the most welcoming for visitors. That’s why many dealerships choose to spruce their locations with live plants in striking containers.

Potted greenery softens the hard lines of a showroom, making the environment feel more like a lounge than a lot. This helps keep customers comfortable while reinforcing a premium brand impression.

Challenge

The client wanted to add life and character to the O’Brien Hyundai dealership in Normal, Illinois through potted plants that matched their brand aesthetic and made a statement. The car dealership had two key requirements for their planters: The containers needed to stand up to a high-traffic environment, and they also needed to be lightweight enough to move with ease to accommodate vehicles rotating in and out of the showroom.

Solution

O’Brien hired Wilson Services of Central Illinois to assist with interior planter design and installation, as well as ongoing plant watering and maintenance.

Together, they chose a variety of Jay Scotts fiberglass planters in matte black and bronze finishes.

A pair of Milano planters frames the glass vestibule at the entrance, giving customers a polished impression the moment they walk through the doors. Their long, low profile allows for greenery along the windows without blocking views of the vehicles outside.

From there, a mix of tall plants in Montroy cube, Milano rectangle, and Potsdam column planters adds warmth and height to the space.

“The variety of sizes and shapes gives us flexibility on where to place them,” says Wilson Services General Manager Austin Swanson. “The planters make the showroom look more inviting to customers.”

With a lightweight construction, the fiberglass planters are easy to rotate around the dealership. And the finish stands up to dirt, dust, and general traffic.

“We put those pots in two years ago, and they still look brand new,” Swanson says. “When there is a mark, it’s super easy to clean.”

Based on the success of this project, O’Brien has hired Wilson Services to outfit several other dealerships.

"We had trouble in the past finding planters that last long without incurring damage or leaking. We haven’t had a single one of those issues since we started sourcing from NewPro. Not having to switch out these pots is a lifesaver for us."

Built to last

For interiorscapers, a planter isn't a one-time purchase. It becomes part of a long-term maintenance relationship. That's why Wilson Services puts a premium on containers built to last.

“These planters are in businesses for years at a time,” Swanson says. “We had trouble in the past finding planters that last long without incurring damage or leaking. We haven’t had a single one of those issues since we started sourcing from NewPro. Not having to switch out these pots is a lifesaver for us.”

Swanson says NewPro’s service stands the test of time, too. When they initially ordered planters that were too large for the space, NewPro helped get the right sizes delivered within a few days.

“From quick and reliable shipping, to a huge selection, and responsive trade support, NewPro delivers a truly seamless trade experience,” Swanson says. “The high-quality fiberglass and other material planters are handcrafted, durable, and customizable to match any design — exactly what helps us meet clients’ aesthetic and longevity expectations.”
