Top 10 Reasons Why I Love the Interiorscaping Business

Sometimes it’s healthy to step back from the daily grind and get some perspective. We know all too well that there are challenges associated with our businesses. This is true in all industries, geographic areas, and service segments. There’s no avoiding the challenges. But, what about the positive aspects of our business? When do we ever take time to reflect and appreciate the good stuff? This blog post highlights ten reasons why I believe the interiorscaping business is such a great business to be in.
1. Developing personal relationships
I appreciate how we are able to develop deep, personal relationships with our clients, tenants, employees, and the community at large. In office situations, we are able to interact with individuals in a personal way that is unique to our industry.
2. Softening hard spaces
It’s amazing how interior plants soften spaces that are hard by design. As magnificent as many of the interior spaces we work in are, it’s the living plants that offset the hard angles and materials of modern construction.
3. Improving mental health
I love the fact that people’s mental health is enhanced by plants in their workspaces. Our lives are immensely complicated and worrisome, but living, breathing plants have a calming, inspirational effect.
4. Adding beauty
The way interior plants add beauty to any space is incredible. Whether strictly foliage or flowering plants, the ever-changing glory of living foliage brings unparalleled natural beauty.
5. Improving the economy
The benefit we have on the local, regional, and national economy is significant. We are part of a much larger economic ecosystem surrounding the real estate and property management sectors.
6. Creating skilled jobs
The fact that we create jobs—particularly skilled ones—is highly rewarding. Just think of all the skills required to be successful in this business!
7. Providing for families
It’s fulfilling to see how families benefit from our industry, as business owners create wealth for future generations and all those employed put food on the table every day.
8. Enhancing the holidays
The way Christmas, Hanukkah, and other holidays are significantly enhanced by the majestic displays of plants and lights is satisfying. Of course, I also appreciate the cash flow this generates!
9. Promoting horticulture
I’m proud that we are promoting education and field experience in horticulture for the benefit of our children, grandchildren, and all future generations.
10. Improving air quality
The improvement of air quality inside enclosed spaces benefits tenants, visitors, and the population in general. Air quality is a real issue, especially in large metropolitan areas where much of our work takes place. The fact that we are making a real difference feels very good.
Stop, take a deep breath, and soak in all that there is to love about the interiorscaping business! Reflect on the positive impacts we make every day and continue to appreciate the beauty and benefits that plants bring to our lives and the lives of those around us. Now go forth, and continue to make a difference in your interiorscaping journey!

Totally agree with everything you’re saying. How about adding things we love about the business as it affects us, instead of our customers. I always appreciated the activity, the moving around, the constant presence of the sky (if you’ve ever worked in office cube or enclosed factory, you know what I mean.) Also, I loved going into places I would otherwise never see – Fortune 500 executive offices, Manhattan penthouses, upscale homes of all sorts.
